Results Playstation 2 Best Trick Contest IFA 2001 Hall 2.1
Friday 31.08.01

The long night at the IFA was a firework of the extremes. Not only the 75 year old Funkturm , but also hall 2.1 exploded in a all out BMX-Dirt jam session on Friday evening. The best BMX riders from around the globe presented an amazing show at the Playstation 2 Best Trick Contest in front of over 2.000 spectators.
The contest kicked off at 09:00pm. 12 riders from 5 nations presented unbelievable acrobatics at ear-bleeding heights of up zo 6 meters. Especially Kye Forte, flown in from England, impressed the Jury with his repertoire of 360°s (spin the bike in the air by 360°), Supermans (the rider grabs the handlebars and throws his feet out in a straight line behind him), and tailwhips (the rider holds the handlebars and spins the rest of the bike in a circle under his legs). Next to Kye Forte both the German Champion ´98 and ´99, Timo Pritzel, as well as Cyril Blackjack Dangeul from France put on an amazing show.
The winnings went to three riders:, Bibi from France, convinced the Jury with the most incredible hardcore trick- a 360 Tailwhip while Timo Pritzel and Cyril Dangeul both shared first place for the best overall run in doing the best tricks over all jumps.
The BMX party goes on though. Friday evening was kick-off and warm up for the qualifying and final round taking place  on Saturday the 1st of September starting at 1:00pm in Hall 2.1 at the IFA. There the riders won´t just be fighting for the purse of DM 8.000 but also the the title:

With the end of the IFA we (the organizers) as well as fans and riders look back upon an eventful season 2001. Since the begining of April, the EUROPEAN KING of DIRT has been on the road presenting a great number of BMX super stars and particularly also Shooting stars. The best BMXer from around the globe made it to hall 2.1 at the IFA in Berlin to fight for the title EUROPEAN KING of DIRT.

Included were riders such as Benjamin Korthaus from Munich (NEA Award winner -  best BMX Newcomer 2001), Kye Forte, Conny Zetzel from Berlin, as well as the German Champion ´98 and ´99, Timo Pritzel out of Berlin.

Over 3.000 fanatic spectators witnessed what is possibe with a BMX bike in up to 6 meters height. The riders presented a repertoire of backflips, 360s, as well as all forms of acrobatic trick variations up to the venue roof on the dirt track of the EUROPEAN KING of DIRT. The Jury was impressed by Benjamin Korthaus´s Lookdown Backflip. Also Conny Zetzel amazed the jury with a highly varied repertoire and his superbly defined tricks such as his 360° to 360°-X-up. But only one could leave the hall as the EUROPEAN KING of DIRT 2001- Benjamin Korthaus convinced the Jury with the total impression of his run as well as his perfectly executed and extremely difficult jumps.

And so the last EUROPEAN KING of DIRT brings the season final 2001 to an end at the IFA in Berlin. The season 2002 is positioned in the starting blocks and after a short winter hibernation will kick off again for the 5th consecutive time in April 2002 presenting again the best BMXers around Europe.
